Ålesund

Ålesund Airport Vigra is the largest airport between Bergen and Trondheim. The airport is centrally located compared to some of the most important tourist attractions of Norway. The Art Nouveau Town of Ålesund, the Geirangerfjord, Trollstigen and the glacier Briksdalsbreen can easily be reached from Ålesund Airport Vigra.

Domestic air connections are good, with direct flights to Oslo, Bergen and Trondheim. The distance Ålesund-Oslo is operated by both SAS and Norwegian. The last few years, the airport has also established new direct international flights. Currently, there are direct routes to London, Alicante, Copenhagen and Riga with good connections to and from other international destinations. SAS, Norwegian and airBaltic are the flight companies operating regular traffic to and from Ålesund Airport Vigra.

The airport has good flight bus connections at all arrivals and departures. Flight bus to and from the centre of Ålesund, the traffic hub Moa and to the speed boat terminal at Valderøy.
From the airport, it is 18 kilometres to the centre of the Art Nouveau town Ålesund.

At Ålesund Airport Vigra, following car hire companies are represented with separate offices: Avis, Budget, Hertz, Europcar and Sixt.

This stage takes you from Ålesund, northward to Brønnøysund, a town situated roughly half-way along Norway’s vast coastline, which is longer than the equator itself.

We sail northward towards the spectacular coast of Helgeland with its network of archipelagos consisting of more than 12,000 islands, rich birdlife and the legendary Seven Sisters mountain range.

And why not arrive a day before departure to explore Ålesund. This coastal pearl located on a cluster of islands is famed for its Art Nouveau architecture resplendent with turrets, spires and beautiful ornamentation. It is also an excellent starting point for excursions to popular destinations such as the dramatic Hjørundfjord.

We are planning a stop at the small Island Grip.

Once this was Norway`s smallest municipality, now the island is summerrecidences. The builings are charming and colorful. Between the houses you may visit the over 500 years old stave Churh.

The voyage ends at Brønnøysund, a lively coastal town steeped in history and surrounded by thousands of islands. It is also close to some of Norway’s most spectacular sights, such as the Torghatten mountain with its famous central peephole.
